This Steinway concert grand has 9 big feet of POWER!
Built in 1969, this Steinway D has lived in a university setting and has been regularly maintained and well taken care of. Many concert instruments get destroyed in as little as 10 or 20 years if not respected and maintained. It is evident this piano had a great deal of protection from rowdy students and other types of abuse. Although there are several nicks and rub marks on the cabinet, it doesn't have the usual chunks missing like most school pianos. Check out the photos....this piano is in pretty nice condition for 40 years old!
Given this Steinway has received a fair amount of play time, the action was replaced with a new Renner (German Steinway) action, and it had new Abel Performance hammers installed. This work was done a few years back and the hammers could stand to be shaped and voiced. All of the damper felts have been replaced, too.
Yes, there is more!! New strings were installed to give the piano the power required from a concert grand. This Steinway has an absolutely incredible tone!! Mighty, full, dynamic, yet not bright and brassy. The soundboard and bridges are in excellent condition, showing no signs of cracks. This piano is ready to be enjoyed for another 60 or 80 years.
