The Pinnacle of Pianos. The Steinway D concert grand.
This amazing instrument was built at the Steinway factory in NY in 1983 and spent most of its life in a home in California. Only 36 years young, this fine instrument still has the majority of its life ahead of it to be enjoyed.
As you will find with most Steinway concert grands, the finish is the traditional satin ebony which looks elegant on a stage! The soundboard, ribs, bridges, keytops and dampers were all in tip-top condition; however, the action had seen some use. Not excessive, but enough that we wanted to bring this piano back to full potential, so we installed brand new NY Steinway hammers, shanks, flanges and wippens. It is now concert-ready and awaiting its new venue!!
This instrument plays "like butter".....it is smooth and silky. The action is incredibly responsive and not too heavy. It leans more to the light side, allowing you to play fast, intricate passages with ease. It has P.O.W. E. R. too. If you want to wake up the audience, you can do so easily. On the other hand, you can caress this huge piano and it will indulge you with relaxing, soothing harmony. You get absolutely the best of both tonal ends of the spectrum here.
Now, please don't think too long and hard on this. A new Steinway D lists for a whopping $176,300 currently. You can save well over $100,000 and treat yourself to the best.
