This Baldwin model 243 Hamilton studio piano was one of the most popular models designed and built with schools and churches in mind. They are extremely durable and built to withstand decades of constant use.
Althrough these studio pianos are designed for institutional use, this piano has spent it's life in a private residence where it has received very good care. It should easily provide another 30 to 60 years of joyful music for you if you continue to give it a little love, keep it tuned, and play it often!
It features 5 huge support posts in the back, capable of providing adequate strength to keep the piano stable in adverse conditions. They also help ensure the piano will stay in tune when the piano is tuned to A-440 concert pitch. There are also braces from the front legs to the main cabinet (toe blocks) which allow the piano to be moved without busting the front legs off. Each of the four corners has double-rubber casters that make rolling the piano across the room (or down the hallway) simple.
This studio piano was built in 1987 in the U.S.A. when Baldwin was manufacturing some of their finest instruments. It is rock-solid and ready for its new home. You might notice the "tone ports" in the front panel which allow your music to flow out freely. The hammers, strings, pins, soundboard and action are all in great condition. The matching bench is also solid and opens up to keep your favorite music in.
For comparison, the new replacement B243 (built in China) carries an MSRP of over $12K!! We would suggest our "Built in the USA" model 243 is of superior quality and will give you as good (or better) reliability than a new B243.....for about 1/5 the cost!
