1983 Mason & Hamlin walnut model A grand piano

Check out this wonderful 5'8" Mason & Hamlin model A grand piano! It features a warm American walnut cabinet with a tasteful amount of detail. The cabinet has a beautiful lustre and shows hardly any wear. 

The tuning pins, strings, and brass hardware are all shiny and free of rust and corrosion. The matching duet bench is sturdy and not beat up like many benches. Funny thing, since benches are fairly long, they tend to get used for "extra seating" when you go to Grandma's for Thanksgiving or other large family gatherings. So, when you find benches that aren't all scratched up (and don't appear to have been banged around), you can usually get a good sense of how the rest of the piano was treated.

Manufactured in 1983 in Mason & Hamlin's East Rochester (NY) factory, this piano is one heavily constructed instrument and features the patented Tension Resonator which helps ensure the crown (or curvature) of the soundboard. The soundboard's crown is part of what allows a piano to "sing" and not be hollow-sounding or dead. Also, if you look at the photos of underneath the piano, you will notice the massive width of the rim. Mason & Hamlin pianos have extremely thick rims and are constructed like....a Sherman tank. They are built to handle a direct nuclear attack. Actually they aren't, but they look like they could!

Well, I saved the best for last. This piano is so expressive and the action is smooth and responsive! The tone absolutely "sings"....could it be that Tension Resonator??? This piano is a joy to play and one lucky someone is going to get a very special instrument!
