This EXTREMELY beautiful burled walnut George P. Bent "CROWN" upright piano is quite the display of fine craftsmanship! In the early 1900's, there were some massive walnut trees here in the United States; however, a majority of them have since been harvested and you rarely find this quality of burled walnut any longer.
Built in 1909 in Chicago, this 4 pedal "Orchestral Piano" includes one extra pedal with a mandolin attachment, giving the piano a honky-tonk sound. For this period, it was a novelty that added a new and exciting tone to the piano.
Check out all of the detail on the cabinet. Three heavily carved legs on each end, fancy moulding throughout...so much personality!
When looking for older, heavily-detailed pianos like this, you can find them in some parts of the country for $25K to $40K in restored condition. This one has been refinished, but not completely restored....but it is only $1888!
